Jade Oraa was born in Lumban, Laguna. An alumnus of Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) as Cum laude in 2016, he took his Master of Arts in Communication Arts with cognates in Development Communication at the University of the Philippines Los Baños. His master’s thesis, which examines narratives of persistence in Quezon province, made him a grantee of thesis grants from the UPLB Agricultural and Rural Development Scholarship (ARDS) – Accelerating Growth to One Research and Extension in Action (AGORA) Plus Program and Philippine Social Sciences Council Research Award Program (PSSC-RAP). Currently, Jade is an instructor at the Department of Languages and Humanities, College of Arts and Sciences, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation – Lucena City, Quezon. He has been teaching courses in communication, art appreciation, and writing. His research interests revolve around critical discourse, cinema, theatre, and rhetoric. He is one of the founding advisers of MSEUF’s film outfit titled Lente: Bayan at Kultura. He directed films such as Retrato (2016), Ngiti Ka Sa Magdalena (2018), Tapos Na (2020), and Kaliwa (2024). Jade was also awarded and inducted by the Pi Gamma Mu – International Honor Society in Social Sciences in 2024.
