“Is it Giving Magiting?” We ask. This public forum aims to bring to light what Filipinos really think of “kagitingan” and activism, and the narratives of violence and powerlessness that often come with it, especially for the youth.
Following a screening of Dustin Celestino’s critically-acclaimed film Duyan ng Magiting—a scathing criticism of both the system that keeps power in the hands of a few, as well as the failure of movements to transform that system—this forum is a timely discourse on how the state has yet to provide the Filipino youth with meaningful opportunities to engage in the practice of democracy.
